Dorothy E.  Smith
A graveside service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2005 at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
WALDOBORO - Dorothy E. Smith, 78, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Born in Rockland, December 11, 1926, she was the daughter of Benjamin W. and Marguerite Wells Bisbee. She was educated in Rockland schools.
A longtime resident of Waldoboro, she worked at the Button Factory and Gay's Country Store, both in Waldoboro. For several years she worked at Stinson Canning in Rockland until retiring in 1988.
From 1998 to 2002, she resided at Sprowl Block Apartments and more recently at the Knox Center in Rockland.
She enjoyed dancing, bowling and for a number of years held the High Women's Single Score at DePatsy's Lanes in Waldoboro.
Pre-deceased by one sister Eleanor Ruth Bisbee in 1927, Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Lee L. Smith and his wife Annette of Waldoboro, Dana E. Smith of St. George; three grandchildren, Dana E. Smith, Jr., Simon Smith, Lisa Smith Beal, Kirk Smith as well as several great grandchildren.
A graveside service at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland, will be announced in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Knox Center for Long Term Care, Patient Activities Fund, 6 White Street, Rockland, ME 04841.
Service arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street,, Rockland.
