Obituary for Beulah 'julie' Smith

CAMDEN - Beulah A. "Julie" Smith, 85, formerly of Warren, died at Windward Gardens, January 19, 2009.
Born in Milo, December 13, 1923, she was the daughter of Earl and Etta Sawtelle Robinson. Educated in local schools, she was a 1941 graduate of Milo High School.
August 1, 1948, she married Charles E. Smith. For more than 50 years, Julie lived in Warren where she raised her family.
She worked at F.J. O'Hara and Son Seafood and later at National Sea Products until the closing of that Rockland facility.
She was a longtime member of Penobscot View Grange in Glen Cove and was recently recognized as an Honorary Member of that organization. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Warren, Warren Senior Citizens and a life member of the Second Congregational Church in Warren.
Noted as an exceptional cook, her baked beans were always sought after at Grange suppers and she enjoyed making donuts for family and friends.
Pre-deceased by her husband in 1988 and a brother Leon Robinson, Julie is survived by two sons, Gary S. Smith and his wife Debbie of Waldoboro, Scott W. Smith of Barrington, NH; two grandchildren Troy Smith and his wife Bonnie, Karrie Berry and her husband Timothy all of Waldoboro; two great-grandchildren Isaac Berry and Alyssa Smith.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday. Pastor Wayne Woodman will officiate. Spring interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Warren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Resident Activities Fund, Windward Gardens, 105 Mechanic Street, Camden, ME 04843.
