I knew Don through our shared passion volunteering for Barack Obama last year. I just learned 30 minutes ago of his death when I recommended him as someone whom I thought would sign a No on One letter for marriage equality in a Maine referendum. I always felt very comfortable with Don, always enjoyed speaking with him and hearing what he had to say as he respectfully listened to me as well. I had no idea what he did professionally, nor did I know we share in our background Bancroft. I feel blessed to have known him and sad he is gone. He shared his health challenge with me at a Trekkers dinner this summer. His death is a loss--he inspired many.
