Obituary for Paul Richard Watts

Paul Richard  Watts
ROCKLAND – Paul R. Watts, 84, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Sussman House in Rockport, following a brief illness.
Born in Warren, December 24, 1932, he was the son of Henry Hammond Watts and Jessie Lelia Watts.
He proudly served his country during the Korean War.
On September 5, 1959, he married Marilyn Benner in Thomaston. In 1966 the couple purchased a home on Linden Street in Rockland, where they resided all their married lives.
For many years, he worked at FMC, which was then known as Marine Colloids, as a production worker. Paul was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed fishing. He loved his bike and took pleasure in getting a new bike every few years; while keeping most of the old ones.
He was fastidious about his woodpile and enjoyed his woodstove. He was also an avid reader, particularly enjoying biographies of famous people. He was very conscientious about paying his bills, and paid his mortgage off early.
Predeceased by his wife, Marilyn, in 2009, his sister Minnie Young in 2011 and her husband Stanley in 1957; brother Jack Watts in 1978 and nephew Bobby Watts; Paul is survived by his son Steven P. Watts and his wife Robin of Hillsboro, Oregon; Minnie’s children, Katheryn Small and her husband Dennis of West Rockport, Gerald Young of Hope, Sherwood Young and his wife Barbara of Warren, Paul Young of Hope; great-nephew Nathan Young of Warren; Jack’s children Kerstin Watts of Texas and John Henry Watts of Warren; sister-in-law Glenda Dickinson of Warren; sister-in-law Alfreda Blood of Calais, and her children, Kim, Kelly, Karen, and Kristin; brother-in-law Eugene Benner of South Portland and his children, Jeffrey and Jeannie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. Mr. Sherwood Young will officiate. Interment will be at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
