Obituary for Beatrice Jenny Beal

ROCKLAND – Beatrice Jenny Beal, 95, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family, Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Woodlands Memory Care Center in Rockland.

Born in Rockland, December 24, 1920 she was the daughter of Orrin and Fanny Spurling Pinkham. Educated locally, she was a 1938 graduate of Rockland High School. Following graduation, Beatrice married her high school sweetheart, Shirley F. Beal in June of that year.

Together they made their home in Rockland for many years where she worked as a stitcher for Van Baalens. In 1963 the couple moved to Bath where she embarked in a 20 year career with Congress Sportswear. Until her retirement Beatrice worked making shirts for Maine Guide Shirts.

Always a quiet woman with a sweet disposition, she enjoyed attending ceramics class. Throughout her entire life, nothing was more important than her family.

Predeceased by her beloved husband in 2001; and three siblings Ralph Pinkham, Winnifred Sylvester, and Orrin Pinkham, Jr.; Beatrice is survived by her children, Frederick Beal, Sr. and his wife Karen of Rockland, Ronald Beal and his wife Carol of West Bath, Richard Beal and his wife Donna of Buxton, Barbara Colby and her husband William of South Thomaston; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. The Reverend Wayne Sawyer will officiate. Interment will follow at Achorn Cemetery.
