Obituary for Gertrude E. "Gert" Augustine (Dinsmore)

WARREN - Gertrude E. Augustine passed away peacefully at her home, December 19, 2014.

Born in Rockland, January 30, 1946, she was the daughter of Bernard (Popeye) and Mary McClure Dinsmore.

On February 1, 1963, she married Robert Augustine in Rockport.

For more than 30 years, Gert was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Warren, where she served on the Mission’s board for six years, and was a member of the Caring and Sharing Sisters. For many years she helped with public suppers. She also volunteered and eventually ran the Warren Food Pantry.

She loved being with her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren, never missing a game or school event that involved one of them.

Other than her parents, Gert was predeceased by two children, Mary Jean in 1967 and Kevin in 2004; three brothers, George Dinsmore in 1970, William Dinsmore in 1999 and Albert ‘Bub’ Dinsmore in 2002. She is survived by her husband Robert N. Augustine, Sr. of Warren; her son Robert N. Jr and his wife Bonnie of Waldoboro, and their children Rowan, Natalie and Robert’s daughter Cheyenne Augustine; her daughter Kim Benner and her husband Mark and Kim’s son Robert Barter all of South Thomaston; Kevin’s children, Travis Augustine, Ashley Narvey and Tasha Augustine and her boyfriend Reginald; three great-grandchildren, Tyrese, Trey, and Kree Lynn, all of N.B. Canada; four brothers, James Dinsmore and his wife Helen of Wichita, KS, Lonnie and his wife Kim of Presque Isle, Arthur Dinsmore and his wife Mae of Mars Hill, Gene and his wife Judy of Belfast; a sister Mary Gillespie and her husband Robert of Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 27, 2014, at the Second Congregational Church of Warren, 252 Main Street. Reverend Andrew Stinson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Warren Food Pantry. P.O. Box 294, Warren, ME 04864.

There will be a gathering downstairs in the church after the service and attendees are invited to bring a dish to share.
