Obituary for Francis Gordon Scott

Francis Gordon Scott
ROCKLAND - Francis G. Scott, 71, died unexpectedly, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his home.

Born in Princeton, September 23, 1943, he was the son of Gordon and Winnifred Fickett Scott. Francis attended Baileyville High School before entering the U.S. Air Force.

After his honorable discharge, he returned home where he was active in the community, serving on the Town Counsel in Woodland. Later he owned and operated his own oil distribution business.

On May 5, 2005, Francis married Annette Wigglesworth after being together for nearly 10 years prior. Most recently they have made their home in Rockland.

Francis enjoyed electronics and loved to take things apart to learn about how they worked. He took great pleasure in using his C.B. radio, and was drawn to anything mechanical. Whether it was trucks, cars, motors, or racing, he loved anything that ran or went fast.

Predeceased by his father; and a brother Rodney Scott; Francis is survived by his wife Annette of Rockland; his mother Winnifred Hart of Sanford; his sons, Brian Scott and his wife Leah, Bruce Scott and his wife Melissa all of Fairfield; his step-sons, Christie Williams, C. Diamond MacArthur of both of Thomaston, Timothy MacArthur of Cushing; his step-daughters, C. Mazelle Olsen and her husband Darrell of Bremen, Coleen Paterson of Belfast; three grandchildren, Alex, Kurtis, Bryce; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Francis’ family has chosen to remember his life privately. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
