Condolence From: Kendall Merriam, Rockland's Inaugural Poet Laureate
Condolence: THREE HAIKU FOR LYN SNOW

Paula thinks
of spring
through your hands

Did you hear the music
of the flowers
as you painted their lives

Your Grandson recognized poetry
even though he had
never been to Flanders Fields

Condolence: I have a beautiful signed print of Calla Lillies done by Lyn in my bedroom in Sarasota. I look at that lovely work every night before I fall asleep and it brings me peace and calm. I've never met Lyn but her work has positively impacted my life and I am grateful for that.

Condolence: IN FLANDERS FIELDS
For Lyn Snow
Your shop is a corridor of birth
blossoms preserved
against Maine's hard winters
I wonder if your hands are rough
as I have discovered
many artists' are
but you have a serene
beautiful face
crowned by white hair
you never pretend
what you are not
what you are is wonderful
I am no botanist
I try to keep up with
the animal kingdom
my sister-in-law
collects your work
even though her view
of raw ocean
on Mahalas Lane
is stunning
I promise to look
next time i bring Robin a treat
I know nothing
of the language of flowers
and they do speak
how else would you
be able to capture
their beauty
nodding in the wind
sometimes we require
living blossoms
to give strength to our vases
to give scent to our houses
those are not always available
but your captured treasures
with Poeme or Antilope Perfumes
will do just fine
we will love your work
and commend it to God
who gave you the sight and will

Condolence From: Carrie Shaw
Condolence: Please accept my deepest condolences on the end of Lyn's journey. I hesitated to enter a message; however, Lyn's art has always had a profound effect on me. I chaired the Saco Arts Festival for twenty plus years and I met hundreds of artists--Lyn was one of my very favorite. Her water colors were so beautiful and mesmerizing that I usually bought one or two every year--both for gifts and to hang in our home. As a result of her showings, many local businesses are graced by her paintings in Saco and Biddeford. Lyn actually sent me a print for hosting the festival-something no artist had ever done. She will be greatly missed in the art community. May you derive some comfort from the wonderful memories you have of her. Bless you.

Condolence: I was privileged to have met Lyn and Jack years ago, and to have printed her limited edition prints while working for 3 or more employers. Lyn was the constant..consistently great art; consistently patient thru the sizing and color approval process; consistently kind and generous with her home and time. Coffee and sharing about family was part of doing business with her. I'd do it all over again in a moment.
My most heartfelt sympathy to the families...she will be missed. And her art will be on my walls for the rest of my days, reminding me of a wonderful person, and friend.

Condolence: Her art was an inspiration to me. I also love to paint flowers and it was tremendously validating to see someone of her artistic talents dedicate a career to painting them. Same ouvre, same medium. Always fresh. In short, her work resonated with me. It also impacted my life on a personal level. Bringing joy to me and to my mom the last bit of my mom's life. My mom was on the fifth floor of EMMC for about five months and Lyn's work was all along the walls. My mom loved it. I would wheel her along and she would say, that the work looked like mine. I would tell my mom that it was Lyn Snow's art. Lyn Snow's art was world class. It is funny a person you have never met can have an impact on your life. I had discovered Lyn Snow's artwork when I had first moved away from Maine, when I was homesick for Maine and it was a comfort. Then to find it at the hospital, in person, at the worst time of my life. It comforted me twice. It inspired me. My heart goes out to the whole family.
