Joseph H.  Robinson
ST. GEORGE – Joseph H. Robinson, 87, died following a long illness, Friday, August, 31, 2012 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Rockland, July 17, 1925, he was the son of Charles and Myrtle Davis Robinson. Educated locally, Joseph attended Rockland High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy.

Serving overseas, he saw action in both the European and Pacific Theaters, as well as being present at Normandy and the Japanese surrender.

Following his discharge in 1946, Joe returned to Rockland where he met the love of his life, Doris Terrio. The two were married on October 28, 1950 in Rockland.

For most of his life, Joe worked as a machinist. He held employment with Snows Ship Yard, Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut, and eventually retired from Gabriel Electronic in 1988.

Joe loved the outdoors and took great pleasure in hunting, fishing and camping.

Predeceased by a grandson, Joseph; his siblings, Condon, Wilbert, Charles, George, Malcom and Celia; he is survived by his wife with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage next month, Doris Robinson of St. George; his daughter Sandra Mowatt and her husband Donald, Sr. of Standish; his grandsons, Christopher and his wife Peggy of Saco; Donald, Jr. and his wife Patti of Berwick; his great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Connor, Owen, Eleanor; his siblings, Gwendolyn, Ralph and Edgar; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverend Richard Malo will officiate.
