Obituary for Sharon Ann Rawley (Proctor)

ROCKLAND - Sharon A. Rawley, 64, died Monday, August 13, 2012, in the Emergency Department of Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, following a long illness.
Born in Bar Harbor, October 11, 1947, she was the daughter of Otto K., Sr., and Pearley Robinson Proctor. After moving to Rockland as an infant, she attended local schools while growing up in Rockland.
She married Ivan C. Rawley in Rockland, November 11, 1964. Shortly after their marriage, the Rawleys moved to East Hartford, CT, where they resided until returning to Rockland in 1979.
While raising her family, Sharon worked at several area seafood plants and also with Crowe Rope Company.
Until retiring due to health issues this past May, Sharon worked more than 20 years with Sentry Table Pad Company now Bricher Lydon, in Rockland’s industrial park.
A voracious reader, she also loved shopping at the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores.
While fighting her illness, Sharon displayed amazing strength, shown by her commitment to go camping Thursday at her favorite place in the world, Beaver Lodge on Alford Lake. She even made the effort to go swimming Sunday.
Sharon was pre-deceased by her father Otto, January 13, 2000, and her brother Maurice ‘Moe’ Proctor, just six weeks ago, June 16, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ivan C. Rawley; her mother Pearley; her son Jerel T. Rawley, all of Rockland; two daughters, Janet M. Ward and her husband Rick of Pittston, Julie V. Hanscom and her husband Steve of Otisfield; two brothers, Otto K. Proctor, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Rockland, Loring E. Proctor and his wife Debby of Thomaston; two sisters and their husbands, June and Philip Morris of Tenants Harbor, Susan and Marcel Ward of Rockland; six grandchildren, Scott Whitehill, Robbie Milliken, Charles Rawley, Nicole Keating, Jacob Rawley, Holden Wood; three great-grandchildren, Damion Whitehill, London Lewis, and Dominick Rawley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 16th. Pastor Tom Rawley will officiate. A graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 20th, at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland.
