Obituary for Robert P. St. Ours

Robert P.  St.  Ours
OWLS HEAD - Robert P. St. Ours, 67, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at his home following a brief illness.
Born in Biddeford, January 27, 1939, he was the son of Albert and Isabelle LaChance St. Ours.
Educated in local schools he graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School in 1956. He continued his education at Maine Maritime Academy, earning a Bachelors of Science in Marine Engineering in 1959.
Following graduation, for the next two years he traveled around the world as a Merchant Marine. From 1960 to 1966 he took U.S. Naval Correspondence Courses in engineering to further his education.
Mr. St. Ours married Nicole A. Taillon on November 5, 1963 in Saco.
In 1966 he began work with the General Electric Corporation in Schenectady, New York working in upper level management and retiring after 25 years.
For two years during the 1970s and from 1990 to 1994 he and his wife lived in Belfort, France before settling in Owls Head in 1994. After settling in Owls Head he worked for the Maine State Ferry Service in Rockland.
He had a close relationship with his lifelong friend and recent companion, Julie Boothby.
According to his children, Mr. St. Ours "loved sailing, was very generous and loved his grandchildren".
Predeceased by his father, one brother, Michel who died in 1966 and his wife in 2002, he is survived by his mother of Rockland; one son, Marc R. St. Ours and his wife Kerry of Huntington, New York; two daughters, Dominique "Mimi" A. Samulovitch of Tavares, Florida, Celeste M. Keel and her husband David of West Rupert, Vermont; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Jesse, Jamie, and Natalie.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 13th, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland with the Reverend Mark Reinhardt officiating.
