Obituary for Bernard E. Rackliff

Bernard E.  Rackliff
SPRUCE HEAD - Bernard E. Rackliff, 97, a lifelong resident here, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Knox Center for Long Term Care, Rockland.
Born in South Thomaston, August 23, 1908, he was the son of Robert Eugene and Lillian F. Warren Rackliff. He attended local schools.
March 25, 1934, he married Dorothy Helen Joyce. The couple made their home here all their married lives. Mrs. Rackliff died October 12, 1982.
He enjoyed a lifelong career lobstering on Wheelers Bay.
Mr. Rackliff was a member of Tenants Harbor Lodge of Masons and for more than 60 years was a member of Wileys Corner Grange.
He loved to hunt, work in his workshop and studying his family's genealogy.
Besides his wife, Mr. Rackliff was pre-deceased by a son Barry in 1939 and sister, Evelyn Archer in 2003. He is survived by one son Ronald E. Rackliff and his wife Eileen; two brothers Frank Rackliff, Alvin Rackliff, all of Spruce Head; two grandchildren Tamela Parini and her husband Glenn of Warren, Craig Rackliff and his wife Adreth of Spruce Head; four great-grandchildren Brittany, Regan, Logan and Alexandra as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service at Ocean View Cemetery, South Thomaston, will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. George Firefighters and Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 249, Tenants Harbor, ME 04860.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
