Obituary for Wanda Taylor

THOMASTON - Wanda D. Taylor, 68, passed into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, February 2, 2021 very unexpectedly at her home in Thomaston.

Born in Rockland, April 15, 1952, she was one of six children born to Walter L. and Mary P. Nystrom Dudley. She was educated in local schools and was a 1970 graduate of Rockland District High School. Straight out of high school she went to work for Small Business Services in Rockland where she worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Rockland where she taught Sunday-School and was a Youth Group Leader. Throughout the years she worked alongside her mother at Mid-Coast Human Resources Council in Rockland, Knox County Head Start, Rockland/Thomaston Wal-Mart and most recently she worked at Pen Bay Medical Center in Registration.

On September 28, 1984 she married her husband, Alan Taylor. They built a home in Thomaston in 1987 where they have resided ever since.

Wanda was a devoted daughter, sister, mother and wife. She loved her family, her husband and her two children and her granddaughter with her entire being. She always made sure everyone else was taken care of before herself. She showed us the power of family in every caring word, warm cooked meal and every minute spent listening to the words of her children. The word “selfless” comes to mind when we think of her. Just as her mother before her, she valued the happiness and well-being of each and every family member no matter how close or distant. Wanda made every holiday an unforgettable memory. Her home cooking filled our bellies and our hearts with love. Her silly personality and kind spirit filled our souls and memories with laughter. Lastly the seemingly boundless love she shared with her family showed us all the blessing that is family. She gave 100% of herself to everyone in her life. Our lives are better for having her.

She was predeceased by her parents Walter L. Dudley Jr. and Mary (Polly) Dudley; and her sister Patricia L. Dudley, all formerly of Rockland. She is survived by her husband Alan Taylor of Thomaston; her two children, daughter Crystal and her husband John Anderson of Washington, son Timothy Taylor of Thomaston; three brothers, Frederick Dudley and his wife Marilyn of Florida, Randy Dudley and his wife Rhoda, Walter Dudley and his wife Darlene all of Waldoboro; a sister Deborah Rackliff and her husband Paul of Spruce Head; one granddaughter Braelynn Anderson of Washington, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pen Bay Medical Center, Pen Bay Family Medicine and Pen Bay Cancer Care Center. A special thanks to her primary care physician Dr. Kendra Emery and Dr. Thomas Crosslin who took such amazing care of her during a long illness. She thought so highly of him and her family is sure she would want to mention him.

Due to the time of year, burial and memorial services will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Portland, ME 04101.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
