Obituary for Roberta Helen Hunt

ROCKLAND – Roberta Helen Hunt ‘Bert’, 83, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Sussman House in Rockport following a period of declining health.

Born in 1936 in Fairfield, Maine, she was the daughter of Chester Clyde and Jennie Mae O’Blenis Craig. She was a 1954 graduate of Lawrence High School in Waterville and later received a business degree from Boston University in 1958.

Bert began work for New England Telephone and Telegraph as a switchboard operator. She also worked for Royal Typewriter in Connecticut and then began a long career in accounting. Bert also had other interests in property management and home health.

She enjoyed travel and adventure, especially her trip to Greece in 2003 with her cousin Joan and her husband Chris. She greatly enjoyed her time spent with family and loved playing cards and board games competitively with them.

Predeceased by her parents; Roberta is survived by her son Ashley J. Hunt, II and his wife Maryann; her daughter Kimberly Cooley and her husband Craig; Grammy Bert is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Stacey Scheider, Amber Parker and her husband Orrin, Ashley J. Hunt, III, Gabriel Cooley; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Noah, Kyra; and many cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
