Obituary for Robert Everett Young
ROCKLAND – Robert Everett Young, 84, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born November 12, 1935 in Rockland to William H. and Marion E. (Thayer) Young. He was the youngest of eight children. Robert was educated in local schools before having to go to work to support himself and his family as his mother passed away when he was 7 years old.
He married Violet Mitchell on August 7, 1953 and together they raised 6 daughters. This coming August would have been their 67th wedding anniversary.
Robert was a man of simple means and a hard worker. He worked 31 years for the former FMC company as a machine operator and was an avid Archer and Motorcyclist.
Predeceased by his parents, his daughter Kim Dewar, four brothers, Linwood, Fred, Edward, and Robert Young; and four sisters, Margery Googins, Priscilla Ulmer, Hilda Hawkins, and Marion Young (Doherty). He us survived by his wife Violet of Rockland; his daughters, Vicki Jo Gamage, Deborah Rogers, Katrina Gove, Roberta Shariff, and Andree (Andy) Toon; as well as 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
There will be no public services as Robert’s family has decided to remember his life privately.
