VINALHAVEN – Richard G. Tolman, 86, died Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at his home here, following a long illness. A life-long resident of Vinalhaven, Richard lobstered out of Vinalhaven all his career. He was noted as an expert at splicing rope. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite Young Tolman; father of Ashley Tolman, Courtland Tolman (Roxanne), Jamie Thomas (Yvonne), all of Vinalhaven; three grandsons, Dana Richard Gardner Tolman of Westbrook, Byron Thomas and Liam Thomas of Vinalhaven. Other than his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Tolman and his best friend Henley Day. Richard’s family will remember him in a private service. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
