Obituary for Nancy Harris

CUSHING – Nancy L. Harris, 77, died peacefully, following a period of declining health, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Sussman Hospice House in Rockport.

Born in Rockland, February 18, 1945, she was the daughter of William and Louise Robbins Copeland. Educated locally, Nancy attended school in Rockland and Thomaston.

Always a hard worker, she began work while in High School, working as a caregiver at the Lucette Boarding Home in Thomaston. She ended her working years at PALS taking care of others which was her true calling in life.

She was a kind and caring person who always put the needs of others above herself.

Even when raising her children, Nancy helped support her family, working at Sampson’s, Shop N’ Save, Nautica and Osram Sylvania.

When she wasn’t busy working, Nancy put her talents to work in her garden. With her extremely green thumbs, she cultivated beautiful flower gardens. She had a special place in her heart for her cats, especially Lucky. She was family oriented and kind and made friends easily wherever she went. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or holiday without sending any of her loved ones a card or gift. Nancy will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Ronald Copeland; Nancy is survived by her children, Jeffrey Taylor of Cushing, James Taylor of Thomaston; her stepchildren, Rick Taylor and his wife Tina of Germany, Teresa Farra and her husband Robert of Morrill, Wanda Chipman of Rockland, Stacy Harris of Belfast, Neil Harris of Washington; her siblings, Robie Copeland of North Dakota, Rodney Copeland and his wife Carolyn of Warren; Noella Varnum and her husband Horace of Sedgewick, Shirley Hocking and her husband Randy of Bucksport; her grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and Janelle Stambaugh; an Aunt, Helen Wing of Owls Head; former daughter-in-law Sharon Taylor of Rockland, as well as several, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. The Rev. Horace Varnum will officiate. Interment will follow at Village Cemetery, Thomaston.
