Obituary for Meredith P. Dondis

It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our esteemed and beloved lifelong member of Adas Yoshuron, Meredith Dondis.

Meredith passed away late Tuesday night. He was an integral part of the Adas Yoshuron community since his birth in Rockland 93 years ago, and it is nearly impossible to express how much he meant to this congregation, and to the city of Rockland. To say he will be sorely missed is inadequate. He leaves behind him a space that will not be filled by anyone else, and a legacy of service, dedication, and involvement that will be remembered always. There is surely not one person who attends High Holiday services at Adas Yoshuron who will ever forget his chanting of the Haftorah, which he continued to recite annually, and without hesitation, year after year, including this past Yom Kippur. His inimitable voice will forever resonate in the synagogue sanctuary.

Meredith is survived by his wife, Essie, of Rockland, and two daughters, including Jo Dondis of Camden; his brother, Harold, of Massachusetts; his cousins, Edith Dondis, of Rockland, and Ruth Small, of Camden; his grandchildren, and many other family members.

Funeral services will be held at Adas Yoshuron on Friday morning, Feb. 7, time to be announced. Rabbi Natan Margalit will officiate.

Our deepest sympathies go to Essie and the entire family. May Meredith's memory be a blessing to all those he leaves behind.
