Obituary for Margaret Marshall McKusic

OWLS HEAD - Margaret Dorman McKusic, 93, of Owls Head went to be with her Lord on January 20, 2022. Margaret was born October 7, 1928 to Clarence Roy Dorman and Christine Marshall Dorman. She married Maurice McKusic in 1966.

Born and raised in Rockland, Margaret was educated in the Rockland schools, graduating from Rockland High School in 1947. She continued her education at Providence Bible College followed by nursing school, where she received her RN degree. She returned to Rockland to work at both Knox County General Hospital and Pen Bay Medical Center as an OR nurse before her retirement. Through most of those years she took a leave of absence from nursing each spring and summer to run Sandy Shores Campground in Warren.

Those who knew Margaret were amazed by her tireless work ethic. In her later years, she and her sister Ruth, enjoyed refinishing furniture well into their 80's. She was well known to both family and friends for her excellent chocolate chip cookies.

Throughout her life, she was an active member of Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church. She continued to serve in various positions at the church throughout her adult life. Margaret was also an avid supporter of Pen Bay Christian School.

Margaret was pre-deceased by her parents, her husband, siblings Kendrick (Norma) Dorman, Miriam Dorman (James) Caldwell and Ruth Dorman (Gerald) Murphy and stepson Robert McKusic. She is survived by her step-son Richard McKusic and his family, along with many nieces and nephews.

We can all be encouraged by her favorite Bible verse, Joshua 1:9 - “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

A private celebration of her life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to Pen Bay Christian School or Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, both at 1 Waldo Avenue in Rockland, would be appreciated.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
