Obituary for Louise V. Knowlton

ROCKLAND – Louise V. Knowlton, 97, died peacefully in the early morning hours on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Quarry Hill in Camden.

Born in Rockland, October 6, 1925, she was the daughter of Edward R. and Katherine C. Feehan Veazie. Educated in local schools, Louise was a 1944 graduate of Rockland High School and in 1946, completed a Business Degree from Westbrook Junior College. At her high school graduation, Louise was pleased to receive her diploma from her father, who at that time was Mayor of the City of Rockland.

Throughout her career Louis worked at various hostess and administrative support positions.

May 18, 1955, she married Richard C. Knowlton at Rockland. For several years, Louise enjoyed her role in support of her husband’s hotel management work, in Massachusetts, Florida, New Hampshire & Maine. Together the couple retired in 1987, from the Gasparilla Inn at Bocca Grande, FL.

Returning to Maine, they enjoyed they comradery and friendships of many friends. Travel was an important part of Louise’s life and she loved to tell of her trips throughout the US and abroad. When not busy traveling, she was an active member of the Rockland Golf Club and Ladies Golf Association. She was also a past member of the Penobscot Bay Medical Center Auxiliary.

Always up for an adventure, later in life, Louise enjoyed many trips with her good friends John and Deirdre Thibodeau. Together they had many laughs and much fun.

Louise will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her husband; Louise is survived by her longtime friends, John and Deirdre Thibodeau and their daughters, Katie and Megan; as well as a close friend Betty Joseph of Spruce Head.

A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2022 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. Interment will follow at Achorn Cemetery.
