Obituary for Lora E. Hall

Lincolnville - Lora Eugenia Hall, 98, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022 at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast.

Born in Naomi, West Virginia, January 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Henry L. and Gracie Hollinsworth Pettry. She was one of 13 children. Lora was schooled in West Virginia until moving to Indian Valley, Virginia when she was 14 years old to care for her grandfather.

In her earlier years, specifically during World War II she worked in Radford, Virginia, at the Hercules Powder Company, making gunpowder for ammunition used in the war. She then moved on to work for Blue Ridge Overhaul Factory. During this time, she met the love of her life, Albert K. Hall, and the two were married in Floyd, VA on May 24, 1947.

Albert and Lora moved to Maine where they made their first home in Rockport. They then moved to Camden while they were constructing their dream home in Lincolnville, where they raised their four children and resided for the past 75 years. Lora took pride in caring for her children, being a stay-at-home mom for many years. She was a proud mother and involved herself in the PTA and all their educational experiences. After her children had grown, she went on to work as a personal care giver working for Mrs. Charles Ruscica, of Camden, for 17 years.

She enjoyed traveling with her family. Even in her 90's she was able to take a trip with her son Lowell and her daughter-in-law Joni to Virginia to see family and friends. Making the trip by car made it possible to be able to stop at many other places and make memories along the way. She had many other wonderful adventures with her family; she got to travel to Florida with Kenny and Margaret and then to Tennessee with Richie and Shiella. While in Tennessee she had to opportunity to go to Dollywood, which she enjoyed greatly. Lora also had an amazing time traveling to Germany with Ken to see Richie and Shiella when they were stationed there while in the military. Lora was fond of sewing for people, cooking, gardening and mowing her lawns. She was a strong and loving woman who enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of those around her.

Other than her parents Lora was predeceased by the love of her life Albert K. Hall; two of her sons Kenneth Hall and Michael Hall; She is survived by her sons Lowell Hall and wife Joni of Waterville, Richard Hall and wife Shiella of Brownsville, New Jersey; her nine grandchildren, Jennifer Audet, Ashley Hall, Stephanie Simmons, Albert Hall, Charles Hall, Daniel Hall, Heather Hall, Keith Hall and Courtney Rancourt; 16 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren who she loved dearly; her sister Pauline Gord and Hanford of Indian Valley, VA.; two daughter-in-law’s who held a very special place in her heart Margaret Hall and Tina Hall. A very special mention to Lora’s granddaughter Jennifer Audet who helped care for her and her home as a full-time live in caretaker and to Ashley Hall who made sure her grandmother made it to all of her doctor’s appointments. She leaves behind many other extended family members and friends whom will miss her dearly.
