Obituary for Linda Ann Turcotte

ROCKLAND - Linda Ann Hjort Turcotte, age 74, passed away peacefully July 2, 2022 at her home in Rockland.

A graveside service will be held at a later date with her immediate family.

Linda was born on February 16, 1948 to Conrad and Eva Hjort. Her father immigrated from Särna, Sweden to Quebec, Canada while her mother, Eva Doiron was from Moncton, Canada. They married at their farm in Cornville, Maine.

Linda was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter and was the youngest of nine children. After growing
up and graduating from high school in Skowhegan, Linda married Edward Turcotte of Madison. They made their home in Madison and later retired to Rockland.

Linda worked several years as a medical transcriptionist for Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan. Once settled on the Mid Coast, she worked as a residential caretaker for individuals with intellectual disabilities at the Katherine Brown Home in Hope. She found joy in caring for her clients and would often be found doing a little extra to brighten their day. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Edward Turcotte; sisters June Buzzell of Albany, NY and Florence Dunbar of Hallowell; son Robbie Turcotte and wife Carla of Minden, LA; daughter Tiffany Darge and husband Bill of Rockland; grandchildren, Justin Turcotte and wife Madelyn of West Monroe, LA; Emily Turcotte of Brandon, FL; Will Darge of Fairfield; Lauren Darge and Parker Darge of Rockland; great-grandchildren, Lily Turcotte and Camille Turcotte; Raistlin Darge and Elora-Louise Darge; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and six of her siblings: Helen Sherburne, Alice Gerald, Lillian Tuttle, Betty Clukey, and twins Albert Hjort and Alfred Hjort. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements are with Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
