Obituary for Leslie Allen "Moose" Stewart

WALDOBORO — Leslie Allan Stewart, “Moose,” passed away on Nov. 30, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Moose, as everyone called him, was born in Clinton, Mass. on Nov. 11, 1950.

His mother Mary Maxine Stewart and father George Allen Stewart returned to Union, Maine, where they raised him and his seven siblings. Moose attended school in Union. When he wasn’t in school, he would rake blueberries with his family on Clary Hill. Moose loved to work and did many odd jobs. He worked at the old chicken factory in Belfast. After that, he went on to be a fisherman out of New Bedford, Mass..

Moose never wanted to retire, so he found things like carpentry, landscaping and roofing to do with his time. He loved visiting his sisters Janet and Rhonda. Every Saturday, Moose would visit Rhonda and play their favorite games Yahtzee and cribbage.

He loved his dogs Harley and Izzy and Willow. He also loved his “Honey,” Nettie Norwood.

Moose was an animated character and would make people laugh just being himself.

He is survived by his sisters Janet, Cynthia, Rhonda, Tina and Mary; his brothers David and Bobby; his four children Leslie Stewart Robbins, Destiny Dawn Steeves, Hope Ann Stewart and Leslie Allen Jr.; and his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
