Obituary for Leanne Cousins

HOPE - Leanne (Woods) Cousins, 70 passed peacefully and comfortably into Gods loving hands Friday, May 15, 2020 at Sussman hospice house with her daughter and soul mate by her side.

Leanne was born on Halloween October 31, 1949 in Boston Massachusetts to Rex Woods and Grace (Brackett Woods) Crisostomo. Leanne grew up in Rockland, and attended Rockland High School. She married Maurice Benner, Jr. Leanne welcomed her daughter, Sherrie, in Keywest Florida before settling in Rockland, where she later welcomed a, Jason. Hard working all her life, she held various jobs including, O'Haras Fish Plant, Maine State Prison as a dental assistant, Lucette Boarding Home, Knox Nursing Home in laundry services as well as Reny’s in Camden.

A wonderful, loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and friend, she was very kind hearted and always willing to share. Her fun spirit and beautiful smile was infectious and a blessing to all that knew her. She enjoyed spending time outside caring for her lawns and beautiful perennial flower gardens; they were admired by many people who stopped to take pictures and compliment her colorful works of art.

Leanne is survived by, her daughter Sherrie Clark and her husband James of Union; her son Jason Benner, grandsons Braden and Brodey of South Thomaston, Gavin of Union; her sister Tammy Hill and her husband Greg of Illinois; uncle Buzzy and Aunt Nellie Brackett of Rockland; Uncle Peter and Aunt Akiyo Brackett of NC; Aunt Julia Brackett of Rockland; her Soulmate and companion Pete Thompson of Hope; her friend and ex-mother-in-law Ruth Benner of Rockland; several cousins, nieces, and nephews and her adorable Pekinese dog ‘Coco’ who was the love of her heart.

Leanne was preceded in death by her parents; step-father Sammy Crisostomo; brothers, David and Joey Woods and Norman Cogan; Aunt Mildred and Uncle Edgar Davis; Uncle Donald Brackett; Aunts, Barbara Brackett, and Virginia Ackley, and cousins Carol and Linda.

Her family would like to thank the compassionate and dedicated healthcare team at Knox Center for Long Term Care and the Sussman House for all the kindhearted care they gave her.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at her home at a later date to be determined.
