Obituary for Kathleen Bartlett (Sylvester)

ROCKLAND – Kathleen A. Bartlett, 80, died peacefully, Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Harbor Hill in Belfast following a period of declining health.

Born in Rockland, May 16, 1942, she was the daughter of Edward and Winifred Pinkham Sylvester. Educated locally, Kathleen was a graduate of Rockland High School.

Following high school, she worked for a brief time as a bank teller and later in the Medical Transport department at Pen Bay Medical Center.

On March 11, 1966 she married the love of her life, George W. Bartlett in Rockland. George and Kathleen were often described as two peas in a pod and they loved spending time together. They made their home in Rockland until Mr. Bartlett’s death in 2020.

A homemaker at heart and loved arts and crafts. She was a talented writer, having several pieces published as a young woman. She even gifted her niece a self-written book of family history and stories of growing up.

She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her cats, and donated generously to the animal shelter.

Kathleen was a sweet, quiet person with a heart of gold and will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her sister Charleen; her husband George, and two nieces, Amy and Amanda Sylvester; Kathleen is survived by her brother Kenneth Sylvester and his wife Paulette of Rockland; as well as her niece Tracey Sylvester and her fiancé Alan Myrick of Rockland.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Achorn Cemetery, Rockland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.
