Obituary for Joseph Pope Harris Jr.

OWLS HEAD - Joseph P. Harris, Jr, 45, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at his home in Owls Head.

Born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, October 13, 1977, Joe was the son of Joseph Harris, Sr. and Phyllis Demmons Davis. He spent his younger years in Rockland, then moved to Warren as a teenager with his mother and stepfather George Davis. He also spent a short time living with his father and stepmother Vicki Harris in Union.

Joe will always be remembered for his beautiful smokey eyes, contagious smile, and how many hearts he touched in his life.

On September 18, 2010, Joe married his longtime companion and love of his life, Kari L. Rolsen. Joe and Kari raised their two wonderful children in Tenants Harbor until moving to Owls Head later in life. Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was so proud of his children and loved telling anyone who would listen. Joes’ family was the most important thing to him.

Joe found his passion while going to the Vocational School in South End Rockland for Carpentry, which he would continue for well over 25 years. Joe started his building career with Maynard E. Tolman in the late 90’s and spent almost 15 years with them. In 2012, he moved on to work for Ober and Barrett. He continued with his passion in 2019 when he transitioned to working for a longtime friend at Rackliff and Sons. Joe took pride in the work he had done with all three companies and on his own over the years. He was loved by so many of the home owners he worked with during his career.

Joe is survived by his wife, Kari L. Rolsen, of Owls Head; his children, Cerra Harris and her companion, Mark, of Warren, Brennan Harris, of Owls Head; his grandchildren, Jayleigh Reed and Greyson Reed; his parents, Joseph P. Harris Sr. and his wife Vicki Harris, of Woodbury TN, Phyllis Demmons Davis and her husband, George Davis, of Warren; his sisters, Christina Campbell and her husband, Andrew, Elizabeth Harris, Katherine Harris, Jennifer Harris, Mary Harris and her husband, Jordan, Isabella Harris; as well as many nieces and nephews; and three loving fur babies Lily and Kali and Addison.
A celebration for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., December 29, 2022, at the Samoset Resort in Rockport; please join us in remembering Joe!

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked if you’d like to help with donations, a bank account has been set up at Camden National Bank under his wife Kari Rolsen, named ‘Joe Harris Memorial Fund’ to help with celebration of life arrangements.
