Obituary for George M. Myers, Jr.

CAMDEN - George M. Myers Jr., born June 21, 1954, went home December 11, 2020.

Our family would like to share the loss of our Dad/Papa/Bampy/Husband/Son/Brother. He leaves behind many who will miss him dearly including his mom, Euretta Myers; his wife, Elaine Myers; his children Sonya Myers (1st born) and her husband Ken Cote, Kala Myers French (The Dreamer) and her husband Jeffrey French, and youngest Whitney Myers (Whittlebug) and her fiancé Dallas Roberts; his grandchildren Ashley-Mae Deabler (Bampy’s girl), Dustin Cote (his Mini), Austin French (smartypants), Kameron French (lil’ man cub), Aikyn “Eloise'' Roberts (his miracle & “perfect match”) and great-granddaughter, Layla Burns (the beautiful mess); his sisters Gloria Britto, Betty Davis and her husband Steven, his brother John Myers and wife Buffy, and friends since childhood Rick Kaler and Bill Lagage; nieces and nephews, many friends he considered family as well as extended family. He is predeceased by his father, and namesake, George Myers Sr.

George loved his high school sweetheart who became his lifelong best friend and wife of 48 years, 49 this December 24th. They shared those years enjoying each other and giving love to their family. George had a love for music, it is what healed him, turning up the tunes is what filled his cup so that he could keep pouring into the world, especially into his grandchildren. His choice in songs spoke to his heart, who he was, and urged us all to be!
“One Love, One Heart” by Bob Marley was one of his favorites. His granddaughter Austin and those around enjoyed listening to his singing.

George instilled in us all the need to “get together and feel alright!” and “Don’t worry about a thing ‘cuz’ every little thing is going to be Alright”. Papa’s hugs and warm hands were precious to all of us. His mother calls him The Healer. Children were at the center of his heart, inspiring all of us to put them first and love them unconditionally. His style could make anyone smile, it was part Blues Brothers, part Hawaiian vacation, part biker, and a little small town Midcoast Maine man in between. Anyone who met George instantly became a friend. He held space for everyone. He was a man of few words, and a mystery to some, with a bold impact!

His other love was riding his Harley Davidson, making countless memories, and finding freedom in the wind. We have many memories with great friends and family on bike trips, or simple putts around town. When he wasn’t pouring love into his family or riding his Harley, he was a master fabricator, channeling love into all of his creations. He worked as a welder/fabricator at Steel Pro in Rockland, for 29 years, sharing a great talent passed down from his Dad with others, and was a mentor to many.

During retirement, he continued to channel his talents and love into projects with his sons-in-law that will
forever have a special touch, both visible and felt through memories made.

In memory or tribute to George, turn up some Bob Marley tunes, give thanks, get together, and feel alright! Although greatly missed, his legacy will carry on! Ride free & ride on Georgie, Until We Meet Again, “One Love! One Heart!”
