Throughout her life Elinor was primarily a homemaker, but did work for some time at the former VanBaalens.
Her children state that along with being active in their lives, she always kept an immaculate house and was known to spend countless hours caring for her family and her home.
She loved to garden and can vegetables which she shared with friends and family.
Predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Ray, two brothers, Bill and Raymond Young, and her sister Marguerite; she is survived by her sons, James Barnes and his wife Linda of St. George, Douglas Barnes of Rockland; her daughters, Nancy Russell and her spouse Beth of Seal Harbor, Jean Stairs of Warren, and Susan Stein and her husband Jay of Camden; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
