Obituary for Dwight Thomas Watts
ROCKLAND – Dwight Thomas Watts, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at his home in Rockland.
Born December 5, 1948 in Rockland to Ray and Verona (Nickerson) Watts, he was educated in both Rockland and Camden schools.
Following High School, Dwight enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam.
Upon his return home he began working as a cook at a number of restaurants, which included the Chuck Wagon, the Wayfarer, and Denny’s. He also worked as a prep-cook and dishwasher for the Thomaston Café, Brass Compass and Archer’s on the Pier.
Dwight was a man who kept to himself, but was well known in the area to his co-workers and friends. He enjoyed watching almost all sports, and especially cherished the relationship he had with his daughter Tracy, spending hours on the phone with her. He also enjoyed spending time with his longtime friend, Shirley Seavey and her family.
Predeceased by his parents, his sister, Sharon Juarez, he is survived by his daughter, Tracy Williams of Maine; his grandchildren, Starsha, Christopher, Sabrina, James, Natasha, and Sierra, and 2 great-grandchildren, his sister, Susan Phillips, of Gastonia, NC; his longtime friend, Shirley Seavey of Rockland.
Dwight’s family has chosen to remember his life privately and there will be no public services.
A private burial with Military Honors will be held at Seaview Cemetery in Rockland on a later date.
