Obituary for Dorothy B. Maloney

ROCKLAND – Dorothy B. Maloney, 95, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Sargentville, August 6, 1924, she was the daughter of Albert and Mable Trask Billings. She was educated in Sargentville and Sedgewick schools.

Moving to Rockland in 1942, in the local seafood industry.

On March 8, 1945, she married Irving E. Maloney. They ultimately made their home on West Meadow Road in Rockland, where they raised their family.

Dot was an accomplished gardener and for many years kept large gardens at her home that were admired by many.

She also enjoyed walking. Dot and Irving enjoyed taking several buss excursion trips, often accompanied by other close friends. She was a member of the Knox County Senior Citizens Association.
For the past few years, Dot has resided at Bella Point in Camden.

Other than her parents, Dot was pre-deceased by her husband Irving in 2009 and her sister, Louise Webb. She is survived by her children, Donna Murgita and her husband Bruce of Thomaston, Albert I. Maloney and his wife Nancy of Waldoboro; three grandchildren, Tina Hutchingson of Cushing, Harmony Maloney of Belfast, Brian Murgita of Camden, several great-grandchildren and a niece Sylvia Wardwell.

A private graveside service will be held at Forest Home Cemetery in Sargentville.
