Obituary for Doris Ames-Ulmer

ROCKLAND – Doris Ames-Ulmer, 50, passed away, Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at PenBay Medical Center in Rockport, with her family at her side after a long battle with COPD.

Born in Rockland, June 19, 1970 she was the daughter of Sgt. Richard E. and Linda Dudley Ames. Being the first grandchild, she was adored and loved beyond measure by her grandparents, Manuel and Leatrice Arvilla, James and Doris Dudley and Martha Beauregard.

Doris graduated from Rockland District High School in 1988 and later earned her CNA license. Doris held many jobs throughout her life. In her younger years, Doris was a free spirit traveler. You never knew where she was going to end up with her dog Brutus, and her boat. She loved to garden, plant flowers, do puzzles, dance, and she loved birds. Anyone who knew Doris knew that she said what she wanted and didn’t care what anyone thought. She was definitely true to herself and her beliefs.

She was married to Jason Ulmer of Union and together they had 2 beautiful children, Hannah Rose Ames Ulmer 21, and Wyatt Everett Ulmer, 16. She was a devoted mother and loved them with every fiber of her soul.

She was pre-deceased by her father Sgt. Richard E. Ames, whom she was extremely proud of and his service to our country; her maternal grandparents Manuel and Leatrice Arvilla and James Dudley. She is survived by her children Hannah and Wyatt of Union; her mother Linda Mitchell and her husband Fremont ‘Chip’ of Rockland; her grandmother Doris Dudley of Rockland; one sister Racheal Sprayberry (Ames) of Knoxville, TN; her brother Richard Wadsworth of Waldoboro; her Uncle and Aunt Dennis and Cynthia Larrabee of Knoxville, TN; her Aunt Bonnie Musial of Thomaston to whom we are so grateful for her love and support all the way till the end. Doris had 4 Nieces, Kaitlyn Fernandez of Stockton Springs, Cassie Hooper of Waldoboro, Julie and Sky Sprayberry of Knoxville, TN. The family would also like to acknowledge Doris’s three best friends, Tiffany Emery of Warren, Linda Stewart of Warren, and Rick Campbell of Jefferson. Through thick and thin these people loved her for who she was with no judgement.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm, Wednesday, May 19th, at Achorn Cemetery. Old County Road, Rockland. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
