Obituary for Deborah Ann Fullington

LINCOLNVILLE - Deborah Ann (Gherardi) Fullington, 63, passed away peacefully, January 4, 2023, at the Sussman House in Rockport, surrounded by her family and closest friends.
Born July 21, 1959, she was the daughter of George and Beatrice Mills Gherardi, Sr. of Lincolnville. Born and raised in Lincolnville, she attended the local elementary school. She graduated from Camden-Rockport High School in 1977.
After high school, Debbie travelled to the West Coast, where she lived for three years and met her future husband, Don. Moving back to Maine, they were married on August 22, 1981. Don and Debbie built a beautiful home in Lincolnville to raise their children Donnie and Amanda.
Debbie worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Camden Health Care Center in the early 80’s. She decided to further her education and moved on to Nursing School, graduating at the top of her class in 1989, from Southern Maine Technical College. She then moved on to her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, practicing at Penobscot Bay Medical Center. After many years, she hung up her stethoscope, and began building a marine mechanic business, Don’s Outboard, with her husband.
Debbie loved to travel, taking many trips to her favorite places; Bradenton, FL., Key West, Disney, California, and Alaska on multiple occasions. She loved their family camp in Patten, whether they were hitting the trails to go snowmobiling, or spending time in the summer swimming at Shin Pond. She was most comfortable and happy on the water. Many camping trips to Warren Island, and lazy summer days at any beach, preferably by the ocean, fishing and boating with family and friends were some of her most favorite pastimes. Duck Trap Beach in Lincolnville holds a special place in her heart, just to sit and watch.
She loved a good party, especially one that included good music and some karaoke! She was a powerful singer, and loved all types of music. She always parted ways or ended a conversation with any of her family or friends by saying, “I love you”. She loved many and was loved by many.
Her pride and joy, Donnie and Amanda, gave her the lights of her life, Alli and Harper. Out of all the things that Debbie loved, being a grandmother was her most favorite. She was the type of Mame to get on the floor, jump in the lake, play dress up, whatever the girls wanted to do, she was game. She was their biggest fan, from watching Alli at the barn on her horse, to Harper skiing at the Snow Bowl.
Debbie’s passion for life and faith in God brought her comfort. It helped her navigate the path set before her. She loved you all, to the moon and back, “more than all the grains of sand on all the beaches”. She will greatly be missed by so many.
She is survived by her husband, of 44 years, Don M. Fullington, Jr.; son Don M. Fullington III and his wife Danica; daughter Amanda N. Fullington and her partner Casey L. Blackington; granddaughters, Alexandria M. Moody and Harper D. Fullington, all of Lincolnville; her siblings, Joan Gherardi Harnois, George Gherardi, Jr. and wife Brenda, Gerald Gherardi and wife Billie, Margaret Napolitano and husband Jim; mother-in-law Lois Vincent of Seattle; sister-in-law Charlene Gilday; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: Sussman House, Northern Light Cancer Center, Dana-Farber Foundation, Bayshore Baptist Church, Maine State Beekeepers Association or your local animal shelter.
Family and friends are invited to join the Fullington family for a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Bayshore Baptist Church, 1835 US-1, Lincolnville. For those unable to attend in person, Debbie’s service will be webcast on her Book of Memories by clicking on the Photos and Videos tab, and then on the Watch Webcast Link. A Celebration of Life will follow after the service at Ducktrap Beach in Lincolnville. Internment will be held at a later date in the spring.
