Obituary for David Roy Higley
APPLETON – David R. Higley, 68, died peacefully at home, following a brief illness, his loving family at his side, Tuesday, January 19, 2021.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Lorin and Lila Hope Higley. David attended school in Utah and spent the early part of his life out West.
In 1998 David moved to Maine where he began his 22 year employment with Lie-Nielsen Toolworks as a machinist. Shortly after relocating to Maine, Dave met the love of his life, Cheryl Dugan, and the rest, as they say, was history. The pair were married on July 5, 2014, cementing their 15 year courtship.
David and Cheryl enjoyed playing cards every night, going out to eat and watching movies. Being with his family was his number one priority and he loved nothing more than gatherings with them. They remember him as ‘quite the character’ always with a funny ‘one-liner’ or saying. On Sunday afternoons, David could be found watching NASCAR and following any race he could. In his earlier years, David enjoyed camping and hanging out with family.
He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Predeceased by his parents; two sisters, LaWana Higley and Carol Hooper; and a step-son, Lincoln Whitney; David is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl-Dugan Higley of Appleton; his step-children, Melissa Maxwell and her husband Matthew of Appleton, Arthur Whitney and his wife Sheryll of Hesperia, CA; his siblings, including his twin sister, Diane Hummel of Carson City, NV, Teala Higley-Giles of Tawilla, UT, John Higley of Magna, UT; ten grandchildren, David, Timothy, Megan, and Dylan Whitney, Matthew, Makayla, Madisen, Maggie, McKenna, and Miranda Maxwell; three great-grandchildren, Bentley, Jax and Meila Whitney; as well as many nieces and nephews.
