Obituary for Daniel Nelson Spear

WARREN – Daniel Nelson Spear, 25, left this world too soon after losing a hard-fought battle to addiction, Thursday, March 4, 2021.

Daniel grew up in Cushing, Maine, as child number 4 of 10. With a slightly impish nature, there wasn’t a prank he didn’t pull or an activity he didn’t embellish in true “Daniel form”. He absolutely loved lobstering with his grandfather, brother, and uncles – he found such happiness belting out country songs way off key, throwing traps, ropes, and shorts back overboard.

A protector of his sisters, he was always finding a way to fix anything they asked of him – even if they had to ask a few times. Later on, in his short life, he started working as a roofer and carpenter. Daniel had many hobbies, talents, and adventures here on earth with his family and friends. He didn’t leave anyone without a good memory (and a few other memories too!). Daniel carried a bright soul, and a loving heart. He lived much of his life on his own terms; you couldn’t tell him he couldn’t do something. He had a passion for anyone and everyone who couldn’t find their ‘place’ in life. He loved many people as if they were his family, and he’d do anything to help anyone that he could. Daniel could turn any song into a parody and loved music and awkward dancing – he was an absolute air guitar legend.

Daniel wanted more than anything to beat his addiction, and to help others suffering with addiction of all forms. He had dreams of working with people and helping them rebuild their lives sober. If you find yourself struggling, reach out to someone who wants to help – they are there.

Daniel is sorely and deeply missed by his sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts and uncles, parents, cousins, and family that he chose later on in his life.

He will be lovingly remembered by all his siblings; Kenny Spear, Jennifer Spear of Thomaston, Joshua Spear and his wife Jewelia Spear of Cushing, Ruth Spear, Sarah Spear both of Warren, Bethany Spear, Matthew Spear, twins, Seth and Silas Spear all of Cushing; his nieces and nephews, Finley, Hunter with whom he had a mutual adoring relationship, as well as Ethan, Wyatt, and Aryn.

Family and friends are invited to a ‘walk-through’ visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 12, 2021 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. Due to current restrictions all are asked to wear a mask, enter the building and then exit after a brief distanced visit, allowing time and space for all to greet the family.
