Obituary for Constance Annette Pritchard
CAMDEN – Constance A. Pritchard, 81, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and friends, Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Windward Gardens in Camden.
Born in Rockland, June 11, 1938, she was the daughter of Vernon Leroy Raye and Ruth Catherine Demuth. Educated locally, Connie was a 1956 graduate of Rockland High School. Following high school Connie began her career as a legal secretary for the Honorable A. Alan Grossman. Also, during that time, she became the first Secretary for the Maine Lobstermen’s Association.
She continued as a legal secretary for her entire career, working for more than 30 years in the field. A hard worker her entire life, she often held multiple jobs at once. Connie owned and operated a dress shop on Main Street in Rockland with her sister Diane, worked as a Real Estate Agent for Childers Real Estate, served as a bookkeeper for several local businesses, was an administrative assistant at Camden Healthcare, a personal caregiver for local families, and even worked nights as a hostess at the Black Pearl.
She had a keen eye for design and was known as the go-to for her friends looking for assistance in redecorating their home.
Even at 70 years old Connie was up at 5:00 am every day, doing her exercises, walking her dog and then working three jobs. Her family remembers her as the consummate momma bear who always got things done. She loved nothing more than spending time with her friends and family, always with a pot of coffee on. Her son said, he couldn’t remember a Saturday morning that didn’t involve a kitchen full of ladies all laughing and enjoying each other’s company.
She was an avid reader and kept current on events, especially politics. She was extremely opinionated and vocal about her democratic political leanings, and loved to debate with her son. She took great pride in her home, and loved keeping flower gardens. She raised her family in the Catholic Church and was a long time communicant of St. Bernard’s. She was social and happy and loved spending time with others. Even while living at Windward Gardens, she could often be found keeping the night staff company in the wee hours of the morning.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by her parents, a daughter-in-law Wanda Raye, a brother Douglas Raye, two sisters, Sharon Millett, Lillian Barrows, a granddaughter Noel Pucci, and a nephew James Atwood.
Connie is survived by her son, Martin Molloy and his wife Jody of South Thomaston; her daughter Callyn Molloy of Hope; her grandchildren, Michael Molloy of Rockland, twins, William and Kayden Molloy of South Thomaston, Dana Shore and her husband Anthony of Atlanta Georgia; two great-grandsons, Xavier and Quinton Shore; her brother Billy Raye of Rapid City, SD; sister Diane Atwood of Rockport; nieces and nephews, Douglas Raye, Missy Harjula, Vernon ‘Samuel’ Raye, Jason Raye, John Raye, Michael Raye, Rebecca Simon, Vickilyn Knight, Katrina Millett, John Millett, Constance Annette Millett, Samuel Atwood, David Atwood, Lori Woodworth, Tammy Barrows, Shina Barrows, Dustin Barrows; sister-in-law Jackie Raye of Union; a brother-in-law Jeff Barrows of Union; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, a large loving extended family and too many friends to count.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2020 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. The Reverend Robert Valliancourt will officiate. A reception will follow immediately at the church. Private interment will be held in the spring.
