Obituary for Clifton Ross

OWLS HEAD - Clifton Ross, 88, life-long resident of Owls Head, died peacefully, Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

Born in Owls Head, April 6, 1934, he was the son of Walter and Amanda Hoyt Ross. He was educated in the area and an alumni of Barrington College of Rhode Island. Returning from college, Clifton worked at various jobs including lobstering with his father.

Clifton was a unique individual with an incredible memory. He had a lifelong association with the Owls Head Baptist Church. As an adult he played the organ at the church in the 1980's. Until recently, he annually provided Easter lilies for the benefit of the congregation.

Later in life, Clifton kept busy during his retirement. He enjoyed walking along the Maine Coast including Birch Point Beach State Park in Ash Point. He also continued to enjoy playing the piano and the organ.

Predeceased by his parents, and four brothers, Charles Ross, Peter Ross, Jon Ross & Edward (Ted) Ross; Clifton is survived by sisters-in-law, Joyce Ross-Wooster, Ruth Ross both of Owls Head; as well as two nieces and five nephews.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Owls Head. The Reverend Paul Munro will officiate.
