Obituary for Christine Watts
ROCKLAND – Christine F. Watts, 90, died peacefully, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at her home.
Born in Rockland, September 5, 1931, she was the daughter of Stephen and Agatha Alley Flood. As a child Christine lived on White Head Island with her parents while her father was in the Coast Guard. Moving to Rockland to attend school, she returned each year to spend summers there where her grandfather, Gramp Alley, was a lighthouse keeper. After graduating from Rockland High School in 1949 at age 17, she never went back, but always missed it. Christine always said she loved that place more than any place she ever lived and wanted to remember it as it was.
Later in life, Christine worked in a law office and in several grocery stores. She married Jesse C. Watts who was stationed at the Rockland Coast Guard Station. They were married on December 6, 1951 and lived in and raised their family in Rockland their entire married life. For many years she attended the Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, a town that she loved.
Predeceased by her son, Stephen C. Watts in 1992 and her husband Jesse in 1993; and a son-in-law Steve Daniels in 2020; Christine is survived by her daughters, Angela Dostie and her husband Larry of South Hope; Jane Daniels of Washington, Jackie Palmer and her good friend John Skinner of Rockland, Lee Giberson of Damariscotta; a son Jon G. Watts of Rockland; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law and their families, Annabelle Lytle and Margilu Mims all of Perry, GA; a brother-in-law and family, John Watts and his wife Julia of Perry, GA; an aunt and uncle, Evelyn Lucas and Stephen Alley; as well as several cousins.
In keeping with Christine’s wishes, her family will remember her life privately. Those who wish may make donations to either, the Liberty Baptist Church, P.O.
