Obituary for Carolyn Lena Knight

CAMDEN - Carolyn Lena Graves-Knight passed away unexpectedly at home on August 25, 2022.

Born in Rockland, January 3, 1951, she was the daughter of George C. Graves, Sr. and Clarista “Callie” Payson Graves. She grew up in the mid-coast area and attended local schools graduating from Camden-Rockport High School in 1969. She was on the cheerleading squad in high school and was named 1969 Sea-Goddess of the Rockland Lobster Festival. She later studied cosmetology and went on to be a successful hairdresser in Rockland for many years. Carolyn married Gilbert (Gibby) Knight of Lincolnville. They had one son, Adam.

Carolyn led a quiet life enjoying her family and friends. She was ready and willing to help others any way she could. She preferred life close to home and didn’t care for long distance travel. She did enjoy visiting with family and friends during the holidays and other special occasions. She faced life’s challenges with determination.

Carolyn was predeceased by her mother Callie; her father George, Sr.; her brother George, Jr.; her husband Gibby and their son Adam. She is survived by her brother David and sister-in-law Marie Graves of Winter Haven, Florida; nieces, Ann Graves, Lynne Dyer, Sharon Spear, Jeannette Graves, Joanne Mohammed; nephew Stephen Graves and their families along with several cousins. She is survived by her close long term friend Gary Bartlett who was by her side in her final moments.

There will be a memorial service and internment at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2022 at Mountain View Cemetery in Camden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paws Animal Adoption Center, P.O. Box 707, Camden, ME 04843.
