Obituary for Brandon James Raye

LIBERTY – Brandon James Raye, 37, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at his home in Liberty.

Brandon was born in Rockport on September 19, 1984. He attended school in Thomaston and earned his GED while attending Job Corps in Bangor studying culinary arts. His working career included landscaping, roofing and marine construction.

Brandon was a loving and gentle person who was dedicated to his family, especially his daughter Kaleigh, who had him totally wrapped around her finger. Brandon had a vivacious personality that left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him. Brandon’s influence, knowledge and memory will long remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His many talents included drawing, painting, creative art and most recently stone work. Every Christmas he would handcraft special, dated ornaments for his family.

Brandon is survived by his mother Melissa Harjula and her husband Chris of Thomaston; his daughter Kaleigh Raye of Brunswick; his companion Jessica Maddocks of Liberty; a sister Jacqueline Young and her companion Tom Harrington of Woolwich; his maternal grandmother Jacqueline Raye of Union; his uncle Douglas Raye and his companion Julie Young of Warren; and a large circle of friends whom he considered family. Brandon was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Douglas F. Raye.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. Interment will follow immediately at Coughlin Memorial Cemetery, Rankin Street, Rockland. A gathering for friends and family will be held at the Harjula shore property on Waterman’s Beach Road, South Thomaston.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations in remembrance of Brand’s dog ‘Janie’ to Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland, Maine 04841.
