Obituary for Betty Hollicker Zaverzence

ROCKLAND – Betty Hollicker Zaverzence, 83, died peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, Friday, January 28, 2022 at Windward Gardens Nursing Home in Camden.

Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey she was the daughter of Charles and Katherine Morris.

Betty was a beautiful, kind-hearted lady who always had a smile and a ‘How are you?’ for everyone, whether she knew you or not.

During her lifetime Betty had to endure twice what no mother can conceive; the loss of two children. In 1997 and 2002 Betty lost her daughter and son, Suzie and Danny, when they were young. Even in the midst of her sorrow, she continued to bring sunshine to everyone.

Betty was ever fashionable, always making sure each outfit was coordinated to perfection. She was a lady in every sense of the word. She was also a life-long Mets fan.

Betty’s family takes consolation in the fact that she is now reunited with her precious children whom she missed so much. She will be deeply missed by all. As their mom would say with conviction to all those facing any difficulty, ‘God Bless!’ Yes, Mother, we say ‘God Bless You’

Predeceased by her daughter Suzanne Hollicker in 1997; her son Daniel Hollicker in 2002; and a step-grandson Allen West; Betty is survived by her children, John Hollicker and his wife Kathy of Spruce Head, Donna Saunders and her husband Tommy of Murfreesboro, TN; five grandchildren, Casey, Emily, Katie, Kristen and Jesse; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen Faller of Rockland; three special nieces, Patty Young, Diane Seiders and Connie Scott; as well as many friends at Stella Maris where she lived.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway. Betty’s family respectfully requests all in attendance be masked. For those unable to attend in person, a live-stream of the service will be available here on her Book of Memories by clicking the ‘Photos and Videos’ Tab and then ‘Watch Webcast’. Or by scrolling to the bottom of this page if using a mobile device. Interment will be announced in the spring.

In keeping with Betty’s desire to be surrounded by beautiful flowers, floral tributes are gratefully accepted.
