SOUTH THOMASTON - Bebe P. Waterman, 88, passed peacefully Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in East Union, May 8, 1932, she was the daughter of Lloyd L. and Winona A. Gould Brown. Bebe grew up in East Union, attended local schools and was a graduate of Camden High School.
She lived a brief time in Spruce Head, where she met her future husband Robert Waterman. They were married at Spruce Head, June 10, 1957.
Being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker became Bebe’s vocation for several years.
After raising her family, she worked as a postal clerk, primarily at the South Thomaston Post Office. At the time of her retirement, she was working at the Camden Post Office.
She was a past member of the Rockland Lodge of Elks Emblem Club.
Always devoted to her family, she enjoyed her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, knitting, crocheting and working in her gardens.
Other than her parents and husband Robert, Bebe was predeceased by her first husband, Norman W. Drinkwater, Jr., by two brothers, Dirk Brown and Basil Brown, a sister Joan Dussault, her son Steven L. Waterman and two sons-in- law, Richard Goss and Michael Johnson. She is survived by her children, Wanda J. Johnson of Sidney, Debra R. Goss of Owls Head, Elaine D. (Norman) Young of Vinalhaven, Cheryl M. Waterman, Heather A. Waterman both of South Thomaston; a daughter-in-law, Dottie Billingsley Waterman of Madison, GA; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister Peggy (Mark) Lincoln of Union, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Thomaston Ambulance Service, PO Box 147, So.
