Obituary for Amy Renee Thompson

THOMASTON – Amy R. Thompson, 26, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, August 15, 2019, surrounded by the love of her family at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident earlier that week.

Born in Rockport, April 15,1993, she was the daughter of Tim Thompson and Ann-Marie Meklin.

A 2011 graduate of George’s Valley High School, she went on to work at several local restaurants, the latest being Hoxbill in Camden. A spitfire personality with a love for adventure, she also spent time waitressing in Naples, Florida. A bright smile always awaited her patrons wherever she went.

Not afraid of hard work, Amy also enjoyed spending time lobstering with her dad in the summer on his boat F/V Haley & Amy. She also enjoyed quality time with her mom on their frequent trips to Dunkin Donuts.

Starting from childhood, she had an artistic side that was expressed through a love of painting. Her artwork will forever be treasured by her family.

Everyone who knew Amy knew how much she loved her sleep and you would often find her napping with her beloved cats Willow & Maggie.

She lived life on her own terms but her love for family was immeasurable. If you were her friend, then you knew you were also her family. Her roots ran deep, she had a heart of gold, smiling eyes, and will always be remembered for the beautiful wildflower that she is.

She is survived by her father Timothy Thompson and stepmom Mikki, mother Ann-Marie Meklin and stepdad Bruce; siblings Timmy Thompson and wife Shelby, Haley-Mae Olsen and husband Ryan, Rachelle Thompson, Taina Thompson; her nieces and nephews, Aaliyah, Kaleigh, Jacques, Kameron, Myah, Jaren and Annalise; her 6 step siblings; the love of her life Zachary Thorbjornson and his daughter Natalie; very close friends Ben Pratt and Alyssa Carey as well as many other family members and friends.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Celebration of Amy’s life will be held at the funeral home, at 11:00 am, Monday, August 26th. Interment will follow in Old Village Cemetery, Friendship, after which a reception will be held at the Hahn Community Center in Friendship.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Teen Challenge Rhode Island, 572 Elmwood Ave, Providence, RI 02907, or online at tcrhodeisland.org.
