Obituary for Alice C. Wallace

OWLS HEAD – Alice C. Wallace, 79, went to be with the Lord after an extended battle with Lung cancer, Wednesday. February 2, 2022, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by the love and support of her family. Alice was blessed to have her daughter’s help and support, giving her the opportunity to stay in her own home.

Born in Rockland, November 10, 1942, she was the daughter of Millard and Louise Cole. She was a 1961 graduate of Rockland High school.

She married Raymond L. Wallace on May 25, 1963, at the Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church in Rockland. They later settled in Owls Head where they began their family, which ultimately included Peter, Mark, Laurie, and Timothy.

Alice spent her working years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant, beautician and providing childcare to many local children. Alice had a big heart and was a very kind and generous person who donated too many causes. After her retirement, Alice switched roles to being caregiver to take care of her husband who battled Alzheimer’s disease for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, especially her grandchildren, sewing, camping, puzzles, scrapbooking, crafts and playing Skip Bo with her parents. She loved going for walks with her dog Tobey and also loved her cats very much. She looked forward to going Down East and spending time at their camp with her husband and all her camp friends there. In more recent years, Alice particularly enjoyed decorating gingerbread houses with her grandchildren Jared and Emily.

Alice was a long-time member of the Owls Head Baptist Church.

Pre-deceased by her husband Raymond in 2020 and her mother Louise in 2015, Alice is survived by her father Millard Cole; her children, Peter and Tena Wallace of St. George, Mark and Dixie Wallace of Rockport, Laurie Wallace Scott and John of Bridgewater, MA, Timothy and Amber Wallace of West Roxbury, MA; seven grandchildren, Sgt. Patrick Wallace of Ft. Drum, NY, Alexander Wallace and his wife Abby of South Berwick, Benjamin Wallace and his wife Aly of Biddeford, Jared Scott of Uxbridge, MA, and Emily Scott of Bridgewater, MA, Benjamin Pratt of Rockport, Ethan Pratt of Camden; her sisters, Zelma Williams of Washington, Mary Lou Cole Rumbarger of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ; her brother, Millard “Randy” Cole, Jr. of Mt.Holly, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Alice’s nurse Karen, her CNA team, Hospice volunteers Pat and Tony, many good friends and close neighbors Shelia Polky and Debbie Damon as well as her very special life-long friend Sharon Davis.
