Condolence From: Barbara E. Gray • Wilmington, Delaware
Condolence: I first met Elsie when my son, Thomas, married Elsie's grand-daughter, Andrea. Elsie and Carl graciously hosted the wedding rehearsal dinner at their home. No one could have been more warm and welcoming than Elsie. She took our family into her heart, especially Thomas, to whom she was always loving and kind. She was a wonderful example of how to live a good life. I admired her zestful spirit and her contagious enthusiasm, qualities that continued well into her later years until illness intervened. I will miss her smile, her courage, her vitality and her generous spirit. I extend my sincere sympathy to her family and friends upon her passing. Barbara E. Gray

Condolence From: Marcia Watts Wilcox • Gorham, Maine
Condolence: Dear Carl, Becky, Mary, Mark and Frances, I was sad to read the obituary in the Courier this week, but I know Elsie is in a much more comfortable place now! My mom has survived my dad's passing about 9 years, and she too suffers from memory loss! She is still with me, but I don't know for how long. I am the only kid and I still work, so we shall see. Margaret didn't remember Elsie when my husband (David) showed her the obituary. She really doesn't remember Bud (can you believe it?), and it is difficult for her to remember her great grandchildren. She will ask "Who are they?" I am sorry you had a storm on the day of Elsie's service, hope everything went as planned. I would love to hear from you. The last time I saw Elsie was at Windward Gardens, I think, when my father was there in the end. Please except our sympathy in your loss! Dave and Marcia Watts Wilcox

Condolence: Our deepest sympathy to Carl & family, we have many fond memories of Elsie, the lobster feed and the many times she won the oldest female rider at the numerous HOG events we attended. We particularly remember a trip to Linneus when we stopped for a break, Elsie parked her sporty on the road, looked at Carl when he told her to get the bike out of the road and said I'm done with it, you move it!

Condolence: didn't know Elsie but happened to see her obituary in the BDN today and logged on to the suggested website. What a tremendous life she has lived. I could always count on a visit at the kitchen table, to catch up with Aunt Elsie and all the tidbits happening in the family since my last visit to Maine. Aunt Elsie was always so proud to show me photos of Harley conventions that she had attended, or other news worthy events that involved her family. Condolence: Dear Carl and family, Charlie and I send you our sincerest wishes. Elsie will stay close in our hearts forever! We have so many fond memories shared with her and Carl in Florida, Milwaukee, PA and anywhere else the Dresser Association took us. My personal best favorite was when Elsie and I were asked to be on a local Channel 5 Good morning show with Mike Reinstien... about women on Harleys. Carl put Elsies Sporty on the back of his pick up and then the two of them drove down from ME. and Stayed at a local hotel on Route 128 in MA...first thing when they arrived she called me and I drove right over to visit them in their quite plushy hotel room! Also the many, many early morning phone calls she made, just to say hi. I never minded, as it was a great way to start a winter morning. Her endless energy still amazes me....the work that went in to their Lobster Fest, usually held in Aug. Made it to many of them! She was a gracious hostess and spoiled us rotten. We even got to sleep in the feather bed upstairs in one of their spare rooms! She will be forever missed...We love you all. Sandi Hicks
