Obituary for Timothy James Kennard

Print
ROCKLAND - Timothy James Kennard, 61, son of Ralph B. and Ernestine Reita Greenlaw Kennard, passed away in his own home in Rockland, Friday March 9, 2018.

If you knew Tim, we hope you remember him as a hard worker, strong, and proud of being able to move and haul just about anything. One of his favorite pastimes was walking the breakwater. He loved driving around and “riding the rotary”, cruising the roads and visiting his many friends. He was happy playing the guitar and loved country music. He liked to say “I was into Country before Country was cool.” He especially enjoyed family gatherings where he was one of the funniest and most well-loved cousins.

Tim was predeceased by his father Ralph B. Kennard, Jr. and his brother Michael J. Kennard. He is survived by his mother Tena of Union; brothers, Terrence Kennard of Panama City, FL, Adam Kennard and his partner Brittany Barbour of Waldoboro; sisters, Debra Rathbun and her husband Howard of Nobleboro, Patricia Thibodeau and her husband Leo of Washington, Barbara Barnes and her partner Daniel Clough of Owl’s Head; as well as brother-in-law Paul Barnes of Washington, and sister-in-law Regina Kennard of Fall River, MA. Tim was well-loved by his aunts and uncles, many cousins, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He will certainly be missed at our family get-togethers.

There are many that we could include that made a difference in Tim’s life, but we would like to especially thank his wonderful friend Lorri Cousens, first meeting by delivering for Meals on Wheels and whose companionship was a Godsend; his nurse Lisa Duda for her wonderful compassion and dedication; and the Belfast Dialysis Center for their continuous and friendly care.

Beyond the seasonal blahs and occasional sad moments, Tim suffered from a depression that perhaps many of us cannot understand. Those that do would nod their heads and agree that, yes, this is a terrible and deeply caustic disease. Self-doubt, lack of self-love and eventual isolation ultimately lead to Tim’s bad health which led to his death. Tim loved his family and his friends and of course, there were good times, some very good times, but…it seems there is always a “but”. We ask you that if you need help, seek it out; if others are hinting around about you getting help, seek it out; if you have noticed that a friend or family member needs help, speak up or find out what you can do to help. You can call the National Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline at 800-273-8255 or visit save.org.
You are worthy of love and value: keep at it – don’t give up.
