Obituary for Evelyn Gertrude Linscott

WARREN - Evelyn G. Linscott, 88, died peacefully, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Dresden, September 6, 1927, she was the daughter of Harold and Mary Siegars Wall. Educated locally, she moved to Warren during her freshmen year, graduating from Warren High School, class of 1947. Following graduation, Evelyn married Loy Milton Linscott in Warren on December 9, 1947.

The couple made their home in Rockland, and during the earlier years of their marriage, Evelyn was employed with several local restaurants. Later she worked for several years with Crowe Rope.

Next, Evelyn put her talent for taking care of others to good use, opening Linscott’s Boarding Home in both Warren and Union. For over 20 years she gave of her time and herself operating the homes.

Evelyn’s number one priority was her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to go shopping, looking for treasures she could buy as gifts, especially at Christmas time. Most recently she has been content completing crossword-puzzles and watching her shows. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her beloved husband in 1999; her son David Linscott in 2016; her brothers and a sister-in-law, Albert and Marion Wall, Harold Wall; and a brother-in-law Theodore ‘Ted’ Sylvester; Mrs. Linscott is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Diane and Harry Leonard, Virginia Flaherty, Judith and Terrance Davis, Jackie and Joe Leonard all of Warren; her daughter-in-law Linda Linscott of Waldoboro; her sister Nathalie ‘Nat’ Sylvester of Owls Head; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren, with one more due in August.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland; where a Celebration of Her Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016. Interment will follow at Seaview Cemetery in Rockland.
