Condolence From: Judy and Jon Bogdanove • Los Angeles
Condolence: It took a while for the news to reach us. It's been a few years since we last saw Patrick, but nothing could make us forget how he, and you, Suzanne, gave Rockland and surroundings a whole new brighter direction, with the success of The Second Read. Our thoughts are with you.

Condolence: Susanne, words can't convey the feelings, as I'm still in shock and denial, I cannot imagine how this circumstance is for you? I am thinking about you alot. I want to do SOMETHING. Please let me know, even if it's sitting and listening as you talk about your Beloved, Patrick, I will be an attentive listener. When my Mom passed away, that's all I wanted-was to talk about her and have someone who cared really listen to me. I will do that if you like. Patrick was so helpful to me when Tim Horton's was about to move in behind my home. He helped me learn the zoning laws and what I could do to live with Tim Horton's- for instance requesting that they plant trees, being there when they were cutting trees and clearing land so I could make sure they were doing what they agreed too, etc. I respected Patrick and his dedication to your business and making the coffee the best it could be. I remember seeing his art at Harbor Square Gallery and how exciting it was to know the artist, in him, which surely he is, and always will be, the artist! So many thoughts and feelings here. Mostly appreciating the goodness in Patrick and seeing that as an inspiration, and wanting so much for all people to aspire to be the best they can be- as Patrick lived that. I know from Rudolf Steiner teachings that the more we think of our loved ones who have passed over before us, the better it is for them. I believe that. This is a good opportunity to share our heartfelt feelings with you, Susanne, and each other, as we are all feeling so much right now. Love,Ananur

Condolence: I am so sorry to learn of Patrick's passing. He will be fondly remembered for his willingness to accomodate the needs of a non-coffee drinker when the Second Read first opened years ago. Barb

Condolence From: Valli Geiger • Rockland, Maine
Condolence: Dear Suzanne, We are so sorry to hear about Patrick's sudden illness and death, after seeming to come through such a difficult winter. Know our thoughts are with you in this impossibly hard time. You and Patrick gave so much to Rockland and were an integral part of its revival. Patrick greeted Greg and me on our first day in Rockland with a great and insightful joke about our former town and a perfect welcoming statement about our new town.

I hope you are surrounded by loving friends and supportive family. Anything we can do, you have only to ask.

yours, Valli & Greg

Condolence: Dear Susanne:
We have been remembering memories of twenty years ago when the Second Read set up shop on the other side of the street. We were working upstairs and could nip down to the Second Read without a coat even in the winter. It was then we had conversations with those two entrepreneurs from California. We could not quite believe that you had chosen to live and work in Rockland. Little did we know what you would contribute to make our town what it is today. We will miss Patrick who had such a deep and broad knowledge of so many things in a thoughtful and humble way. We are so sorry to have lost him this soon and hold you in our hearts at this tough time.
Love, Anne and Les

Condolence: I've never known a more thoughtful, kind person. We're a poorer and, for now, slightly off balanced lot without Patrick in view. My heart goes out to you Susanne. May you find comfort in the friends you have all over this world.
