COMMITTAL SERVICE
ROCKLAND - A graveside committal service with military honors will be held for James E. Rose, Jr., 80, who died March 2, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2009 at Village Cemetery, Sunrise Section, Dwight Street, Thomaston. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, Rockland.
ROCKLAND - James E. Rose, Jr., 80, died following a long illness, March 2, 2009 at his home, here.
Born in Sharon, Massachusetts, March 26, 1928, he was the son of James E., Sr. and Terresa F. Concannon Rose. He attended local schools, and later attended Trinidad State Collage in Colorado where he earned certification as a gunsmith..
In 1944 Mr. Rose first went to sea, sailing with the Seafarers Union and Standard Oil. During World War II, he was called to duty, serving the duration of the war. After 39 years at sea, Mr. Rose retired and has since resided in the Rockland area.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of Lincoln County Rifle Club in Damariscotta. He was also a member of Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt American Legion Post No.1, Rockland.
Mr. Rose is survived by two sons, James E. Rose and Theodore C. Rose both of Baltimore.
An hour of visiting will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 Sunday afternoon, March 8th at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm. Interment with military honors will be announced in the spring at Village Cemetery, Thomaston.
