Obituary for Lillian Joan Reid

Lillian Joan  Reid
UNION - Lillian Joan Reid, 69, died at home following a long illness, Saturday, July 25, 2009.
Born June 1, 1940 in Lynn, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Albert and Harriet Critch Reid. She was educated in Lynn public schools, graduating from Lynn English High School in 1957. A few days following graduation, Joan began employment with Stone and Webster Engineering in Boston, where she worked as a stenographer for thirty-seven years.
For many years, Miss Reid lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts until moving to Union, Maine upon retirement. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her love of family and her pets.
Other than her parents she was pre-deceased by an older brother, Charles, his wife Jeanne, and their son Stephen.
Surviving family members include an older sister, Elizabeth and her husband Kenneth Sabins of Union; nieces Lynette deLara and her husband Carlos of California, Julie Pennell and her husband Greg of Union; nephews Glenn Sabins and his wife Angela of Union, Duane Sabins and his wife Lori of Tarkio, Missouri, Shawn Sabins of Union; great-nieces and great-nephews, Erin Colburn, Nicole Colburn, Annie Pennell, Jonas Sabins, Jillian Sabins, Amanda Sabins, Cassie Hegstrom, Nikita York, Nicholas York; four great-great-nephews and two great-great-nieces.
Her family would like to thank the Hospice group for their compassion and help in the past months. Their help made it so much easier for Joan to be in her own home.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 in the afternoon, Thursday, July 30th at East Union Cemetery, Miller Road, Union. Pastor Gary Soul will officiate.
