Obituary for Marie Couture Price (Couture)

Marie Couture Price (Couture)
CAMDEN - Marie C. Price, 83, died following a period of declining health, Monday, February 24, 2014 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Marie Knapp Couture. Educated in Bridgeport, she spent most of her early life there. Following high school, Marie earned a Bachelors of Art in Social Sciences, attending the University of Connecticut and Thomas Edison College.

For more than 28 years Marie was employed in several departments of Southern New England Telephone, Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, AT&T, and Bell Communications Research.

Marie was a giving person, and loved volunteering her time. She spent 10 years at Pen Bay Medical Center, assisting in several areas including patient transport, medical records and as a front desk receptionist. She also served on the Marketing Committee for Quarry Hill during the development stage and was later one of the first residents in the cottages.

While living at Quarry Hill, Marie met Bill Oberholtzer. Together they moved to Hampden and while living there for eight years, they enjoyed traveling to Europe, throughout Canada, Alaska and Central America. They returned to Quarry Hill last summer.

Always civic minded, she gave generously to many local organizations, including P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, Rockport Public Library, and Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation.

Marie is survived by her companion of eight years, Bill Oberholtzer of Camden, as well as many friends and people she has touched along the way.

At her request, Marie will be laid to rest privately at the Sea View Cemetery in Rockport.

Memorial donations may be made to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, P.O .Box 707, Rockport, Maine 04856.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
